Jack-of-all-writing-trades Toni Perling is the proud owner of produced credits in all television formats, including episodic drama and comedy; television movies; and reality and informational programming. Just don't ask her to pick her favorite genre. As an active member of both the Writers Guild of America West and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Toni regularly judges the Emmys, WGA Awards and ATAS internships, and actually began her career as the winner of the Academy's internship program in Episodic Series. After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Radio-TV-Film, Toni was lucky enough to land a job at TV Guide magazine writing loglines and Close-Ups. Her big break came writing freelance episodes of "Who’s the Boss?" and "Empty Nest." She soon followed that up with a two-an-a-half year stint on CBS's popular drama, "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," rising from staff writer to Executive Story Editor in one season and penning more than thirteen episodes, including several featuring Johnny and June Carter Cash. Toni then segued into writing for long form television, and her TV-movies "Dying to Dance" and "Vanished Without a Trace," which originally aired on NBC, now regularly run on Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Channel. With the abrupt slowdown in television movie production, Toni once again was able to change writing gears and is now a part of the reality and informational program boom, story editing competition shows for USA Cable and scripting several design shows for HGTV. She's also a freelance story consultant and is in development on several television-movie, feature and reality show concepts. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Toni lives in lovely Toluca Lake, California, with her two rescue dogs, Daisy Jo and Bud Earl. She reminds you, ala Bob Barker, to help control the animal population! Spay and neuter! |
